In a serious tone, far left and far right regimes do rely on what the state cooks up in state media, just like Hitler determined what was true to only his self, whether it was in reality or not. The state media create their own pseudo-realities to match the ideological reprogramming of the totalitarian regimes.
Keep in mind that Chavez is a totalitarian leader ruling new laws by decree, without parliamentary votes, just like he created laws recently that went against defeated referendums only months ago.
