While watching the "No ID 2" movie in the Sticky: Soviet Nuclear wepaon Test Page i heared the german commentator speaking of "1949", "the sovjets perform the first succesfull detonation of an atom bomb" and "four years after the Americans".
So this would indicate that the movie is the RDS-1 test.

umm i highly doubt that it could be... it appears to be a very very small yielding shot... rather than being 22kt like shot "Joe" was... it is still yet to be identified. |

I understand what you are saying.
However in this case i think there are sufficient clue's to at least
put it up for a serious discussion.
1) The german channel on which this clip was aired is the respected german national WDR (Westdeutschen Rundfunks).
2) The german commentator is dubbed over an audible russian commentator.
The chances of a german dub contradicting an authentic audible russian
commentator are remote.
3) My translation of the german commentator i am willing to confidently put up for review by a native german speaker.
translation of german dub:
"the beginning of history"
"1949"
"the sovjets perform the first succesfull detonation of an atom bomb"
"four years after the Americans"'
"the starting shot of the atomic arms race" |

I can say is although both explosions are very similar, there some notable differences. For example, the explosion "Joe-1" generated a visible Wilson's cloud. I agree to the "no ID 2" explosion appears of a small test.
It could be simply a mistake |
