Ramstein airshow disaster
Description: 
One of the world's worst airshow disasters. Seventy-two spectators as well as three pilots were killed and 346 were seriously injured in the resulting explosion and fire. The event took place in front of an audience of 300,000 on 28/08/1988 at the Ramstein US Air Base in Germany.

D-21 Separation Incident
Description: 
The Lockheed D-21 was a Mach 3+ ramjet powered, unmanned autonomous reconnaissance drone. Launched off the back of a modified SR-71 Blackbird (M-21). It completed 3 tests, the 4th and final launch on 30/07/1966 ended in disaster. The D-21 impacted the M-21's tail after separation destroying both aircraft. The two crewmen ejected safely at sea. The pilot, Bill Park, survived, but the LCO, Ray Torick, drowned when his pressure suit leaked.
