The Blue Angels  Description:  Formed in 1946 under the directive of Admiral Chester Nimitz, the Blue Angels are the US Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron. In the course of their history they have used the F6F Hellcat, F8F Bearcat, F9F Panther(first jet), F9F-8 Cougar, F11 Tiger, F-4 Phantom, A-4 Skyhawk and shown here the F/A-18. The Hindenburg Disaster Description:  LZ 129 Hindenburg was a German zeppelin, one of the largest aircraft ever built. 06/05/37 it was destroyed by fire while landing at Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey, USA. Thirty-six people died in the accident, the cause of the accident was never determined though theories abound. The Ramstein Disaster  Description:  One of the world's worst airshow disasters. Seventy-two spectators as well as three pilots were killed and 346 were seriously injured in the resulting explosion and fire. The event took place in front of an audience of 300,000 on 28/08/1988 at the Ramstein US Air Base in Germany. The Space Shuttle Description:  NASA's Space Shuttle is the spacecraft currently used by the U.S. for its human spaceflight missions, scheduled for retirement in 2010. Five space-worthy orbiters were built: Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour, the program has an estimated cost of US$170 billion. At times, the orbiter itself is referred to as the space shuttle. Technically, this is incorrect, the actual "Space Transportation System" is the combination of the orbiter (OV), the external tank (ET), and the two solid rocket boosters (SRBs). Combined, these are referred to as the "Stack"; assembled in the Vehicle Assembly Building originally built for the Saturn V rocket. Music: Apollo 13 OST.
