The Hindenburg Disaster

LZ 129 Hindenburg was a German zeppelin, one of the largest aircraft ever built. 06/05/37 it was destroyed by fire while landing at Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey, USA. Thirty-six people died in the accident, the cause of the accident was never determined though theories abound.

Project Excelsior

Project Excelsior was a series of extreme high-altitude parachute jumps made by USAF Joseph Kittinger in 1959/1960 to test the Beaupre multi-stage parachute system. In one of these jumps Kittinger set world records for the highest parachute jump and the longest parachute freefall, both of which still stand. More information.
