      St. Elmo's Fire 
    Description:
    View from the cockpit showing the coronal discharge known as St. Elmo’s fire (actually plasma not fire). The electric field around the object causes ionization of the air molecules, producing a faint glow easily visible in low-light conditions. Approximately 100 - 3000 kV per meter is required to induce the effect; though this number is greatly dependent on the geometry of the object in question.

      Shuttle Timelapse 
    Description:
    Segment 1: NASA's Shuttle Discovery (STS131), while docked to the ISS, captured these images on 12/04/ 10 as it moved from the night side of the Earth to the daytime. In the process the Aurora Borealis can be seen.
    Segment 2: STS131 docked to the ISS, on April 16/04/10. The Shuttle emerges from darkness over the Canadian Rockies, traversing the US southeast towards Florida. The Bahamas and Hispaniola are seen as the Shuttle continues over Venezuela, Brazil and finally the southern Atlantic ocean before returning to darkness.

      ISS Flyover 
    Description: Time-lapse video taken from the front of the International Space Station as it orbits our planet at night. This sequence begins over the Pacific Ocean then continues over North and South America before entering daylight near Antarctica. Also visible is the earths ionosphere (thin yellow line), a satellite (55sec) and the stars of our galaxy. The video was complied from over 600 still images, then smoothed using frame interpolation software.

      Juno Launch

      Apollo 11 Launch 
    Description: Apollo 11 was the spaceflight which landed the first humans, Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr, on Earth's Moon in 1969. Launched from the Kennedy Space Center Florida on July 16, Apollo 11 was the 5th manned mission, and the 3rd lunar mission, of NASA's Apollo program. A Saturn V launched Apollo 11 from Launch Pad 39A, part of the Launch Complex 39 site at the Kennedy Space Center. It entered orbit 12 minutes later. After one and a half orbits, the S-IVB third-stage engine pushed the spacecraft onto its trajectory toward the Moon.
